Patient Education

By Sharon Gorman, D.C. As many of you know last month I moved into a much larger office. I loved my old office but it just wasn’t big enough. I included a separate room for patient education in this office. I never had a room designated for this purpose in any of my previous offices. The room is set up like a classroom and has about 15 chairs in it. In the front of the room I have a white board, a spine and a TV/DVD combo. I use the room to show the patients the videos that I show […]

Where is God in Chiropractic?

By Sharon Gorman, D.C. We Chiropractors try to be so politically correct. We don’t like to use the G word in the office. We try not to turn people off if they are not open to talking about God. I find it perplexing that people try to keep their spiritual world and their physical world (their bodies) separate and distinct. Although, have you ever noticed that many hospitals are religiously affiliated and often so named. Talking about God turns a lot of people off because they confuse God with religion. I never talk about religion with patients. To tell you […]

I Moved My Chiropractic Practice

By Sharon Gorman, D.C. Monday Morning Message – 6/12/07 Begin Today Boy, I have had a crazy few weeks. Just a few weeks ago I moved my practice. I moved into an office three times the size of my last office. I guess it is easier to move into a bigger space rather than a smaller office yet any move is traumatic. A few days before I made the move I was talking to another chiropractor. I hadn’t seen him in a while and I stopped off at his office one afternoon. He started to tell me about his practice […]

By Sharon Gorman, D.C. Monday Morning Message for 5/14/07 Who is driving the car? When something doesn’t go the way that you hoped it would in your life, is it always someone else’s fault. Until we acknowledge that we have free choice in life we will never be able to reach our full potential. As children our parents and society made most of the decisions that governed our lives. Now we are adults and although we can not control the whole world we can make our own decisions. It is easy to get stuck in that pattern and also easy […]

Getting What You Want Out of Life

By Sharon Gorman, D.C. Monday Morning Message Organization One of the keys to getting what you want out of life is effective planning. I have a monthly calendar I work off of. I know, low tech. Well it helps if I can see it all in front of me at the same time. I buy the kind that school teachers use. I can see the whole month AT-A-Glance. The busier my life gets the more time I spend in front of my book making sure that I want to do all the things that I have written down. I look […]

Adjusting Kids

By Sharon Gorman, D.C. Monday Morning Message… Adjusting Kids Kids are so much fun to adjust – most of the time. They look forward to seeing you. The look forward to the unconditional love that we give them. They love the stickers and treats we give them. They love that feeling that they feel in the office they might not feel anywhere else. In my office they are special. Well to come to think of it everyone is special yet they feel the unspoken word even more. They feel how honored that we are that they allow us to adjust […]

Afraid To Be Bored

By Sharon Gorman, D.C. Monday Morning Message… Are You Afraid To Be Bored? Have you given yourself a chance to be a little bored lately. We just had our first snow storm in my area this year. Had a chance to be snowed in a little. Kind of like to be snowed in once or twice a year. Get a lot of stuff done around the house. I get that caught up feeling. It is a good feeling but it doesn’t take long before I start looking for something else to do. The kids get bored even quicker and they […]

Having no symptoms is not healthy at all

By Sharon Gorman, D.C. Monday Morning Message… Adaptability When I was doing my orientation last night I asked the people a question I asked them a million times. How do you know if you are healthy? Well you know all the typical answers. The silliest and most common is that I know that I am healthy if I feel good. All those people that have dropped dead “never sick a day in their lives” blow that theory out the window. Well what is it then? Being healthy is being able to adapt. Healthy people can adapt to pollen. Less healthy […]

Still Have a Burning Desire

By Sharon Gorman, D.C. Monday Morning Message… Still Have a Burning Desire! About 20 years ago I was on my way back from a DE meeting in Atlanta. I was so excited so I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and wrote A BURNING DESIRE. I am sharing it with you today. I actually pulled it off of Planet Chiropractic where it was posted several years ago. This past weekend I spoke to the Saturday Night Live group in Fort Lauderdale. My intention was to update A BURNING DESIRE but after reading it I didn’t think that it […]

My stats for January

By Sharon Gorman, D.C. Monday Morning Message… I just figured out my stats for January. I had my best January since I’ve been in practice. I had my fourth highest month ever. The reason I mention this is not only to brag but I tell you in hope that my success will motive your success. January is generally not one of my best months, at least I used to think. I guess it is easier to believe otherwise now that I have evidence that it doesn’t have to be one of my worst months of the year. My point is […]
