by Michael Dorausch, DC There was a 10 x 14 insert advertisement for Curves in today’s West side addition of the Los Angeles Times. It was the traditional Curves pink and purple colors. There was some advertisement about a women’s fitness special on one side of the flyer but what piqued my interest was what was on the other side. The side of the flyer that I saw first featured a directory of Curves fitness facilities in the Los Angeles County area. Notice on the flyer Curves advertises a microsite (lacountycurves.com) rather than their primary website (curves.com). They also use
by Michael Dorausch, DC There was a Chiropractic Christmas Tree news post on Planet Chiropractic today with a mention about spinal keychains that we hand out in my LA office. The photos shown did not show the keychains so well and someone had emailed me asking about them. I found photos I already took of the key chains so here is one below. Spine Keychains I don’t have the info handy as to where we purchase these but they are not expensive. They go really quick and some patients have to get replacements as they use them until the information
by Michael Dorausch, DC Get your mind on your business and your business on your mind. This is the time of year I recommend you lay out your small-business marketing plan for 2008. Getting these ideas organized now will free you up to enjoy the holidays and hit the ground running at the first of the year. It’s also a great way to tongue-tie those emotionally driven telemarketing calls that come from yellow page companies and other marketing services. When our office receives such calls, we tell them that we’ve already committed to an entire year’s marketing plan and they’re
by Michael Dorausch, DC In our interconnected world, the actions one takes online (after meeting someone face-to-face), can make the difference between another tossed aside business card and a potentially valuable relationship. In October, I mentioned how I was at an event with around 130 other people in the chiropractic industry, and the secret marketing opportunities that were lost. For someone who loves networking, it was a disappointing experience. While having breakfast with a group of friends yesterday, I was engaged in my usual online activities (all those years of table manners my mom taught me are down the drain)
by Michael Dorausch, DC With taglines that read Produce a movie with the Stars for $1, The 1 Second Film project has all the ingredients of a brilliant social media and viral marketing effort. The 1 Second Film (if you’re not familiar with the project, check out the web site for more information) is the brainchild of Los Angeles-based filmmaker Nirvan Mullick. Along with efforts from his team, Nirvan has consistently and successfully been applying guerrilla and viral marketing strategies, and has benefited from a number of online social media networks. In this post, I wanted to point out some
by Michael Dorausch, DC I’m home at lunch and I’ve already got a stack of seven marketing related faxes on my desk. Before a forget, I was just on the phone with someone asking me where the find a local chiropractor page was. Use that for now. First fax on the desk says Wanted!!! Doctors Seeking New Patients! Apparently this is a referral marketing program that is offering territorial related local marketing for chiropractic offices. The fax promotes a Health and Wellness Network and I just noticed there’s a sentence at the bottom that says “you must have massage therapy
by Michael Dorausch, DC I received letters today from the National Health Bureau located in Redondo Beach, an Advanced Spinal Research Institute, and a nutritional practice building system based out of Clearwater Florida. Before I start, many thanks again to the chiropractors in the San Diego area who offered service to firefighters and community members during the California fire storms. Here is a list of wildfire charities that includes two for animals. I also wanted to mention that the International Chiropractors Association is hosting a Summit on innate intelligence in December at Bally’s in Las Vegas. So I’ve been making
by Michael Dorausch, DC I am attending a chiropractic conference in Phoenix today and I’ve received dozens of business cards since I’ve been here. Checking some cards and viewing some online listings I’ve had some thoughts on naming offices, particularly chiropractic practices. Some common names I’ve seen include: Chiropractor Nutrition Center, Chiropractic Health Clinic, Chiropractic Life Center, and Chiropractor Center. Great to see offices using the term ‘chiropractic’ in the office name but many of these names could be better. Some of the better names I’ve seen for businesses included locally based information such as: Oxnard Chiropractic Center, Merritt Island
by Michael Dorausch, DC I’ve gotta let you in on a secret marketing strategy that is so effective and so easy to implement, it may just leave you stunned when you discover it. The return on investment (ROI) is huge and that’s only one of the reasons that makes this secret strategy so massively successful. I’ll tell to you by way of an experience I had this weekend, so continue on and let this secret unfold. I’ll assume you don’t know this, but thousands of people visit Planet Chiropractic everyday. While some of those visits are naturally from chiropractors, others

by Michael Dorausch, DC First things first, if you noticed some posts made on the weekend that are not appearing today, it’s because I’m a dumb ass that didn’t back up my WordPress database (or other web server files) and the server had a fairly serious crash late Sunday night, losing everything on the server created after Thursday. Teaches me to spend the weekend updating information on the web site, and posting silly photos of me and my dogs. OK, my friend and Orange County SEO guru, CK Chung, had a post on this site last week about online ad
