by Michael Dorausch, DC Have you been googling yourself lately? If so, there’s no reason to be ashamed? According to a Digital Footprints report released today by Pew Internet, many are doing it, and they’ve even googled others as well. By the time I sat down to write this post there were more than 360 articles appearing in Google News related to the report, which addressed googling, online identity management, and the ways we search for ourselves and others while online. I’m sure in the days and weeks to come there will be dozens of well-written and insightful articles regarding
by Michael Dorausch, DC I’m still down at Disneyland in Southern California, attending a chiropractic conference. Conferences in this industry are typically held at hotel locations throughout the United States, but there’s quite a few continuing education programs that take place on chiropractic college campuses. Nearly every chiropractor that brought their family to the area spent a few days at Disneyland. Looks like it was a successful place to put together a conference. Yesterday I wrote about seven locations for chiropractic schools in the USA, but there are currently 18 institutions in the United States that offer chiropractic programs. Below
by Michael Dorausch, DC I was enjoying a Latte this morning with Dr. Russell Kun, who is moving from his office in San Lorenzo to Capital City in the Seattle area, and we got to talking about Life West and other chiropractic schools. Dr. Kuns office was not far from the college in Hayward and he said he had not searched out many areas beyond those near the school. After several years in practice he decided to make the move to the state of Washington. He’s moving next week. Later in the morning someone asked how far away we were
by Michael Dorausch, DC Do you know the way to San Jose? According to this sign, which I took a picture of while walking along Hegenberger Rd in Oakland, Interstate 880 South is the way to San Jose. Looks like somebody tried to clean off graffiti from the sign. The soft flash on my digital camera really brought it out. When I travel I like think about how I would go about finding products and services in the area I’m visiting. In this case, I was in Oakland, and I was taking a stroll between the Courtyard Marriott Hotel and
by Michael Dorausch, DC I just completed a news article with some chiropractic related events for the month of October and some information regarding the discovery of chiropractors in the United States. While thousands of people visit pages on Planet Chiropractic every month, we are still faced with challenges when working to connect qualified chiropractors with people in the communities that are seeking their services. If you are a chiropractor, or chiropractic student, here is an incredibly easy opportunity to recognize a chiropractor you think is truly great. Visit the chiropractic pages representing your state and tell us if there’s
by Michael Dorausch, DC I received another letter from a yellow pages marketing company last week. This one came from AT&T. The letter was part of a “last chance” offer for my LA chiropractic business to save as much as 50% on two yellow page books that get distributed in neighboring areas. The advertising I received was for print directories that were being distributed in the South Bay area of Southern California and an area called the Airport Area. I imagine the airport area is mostly in the city of Westchester and LAX airport region. The mailing included reasons why
by Michael Dorausch I’ve been meaning to post a photograph one of my chiropractic assistants took when phone books arrived at my ADIO Chiropractic office (in LA) earlier this year. Being in a major metro area like Los Angeles results in a bunch of phone book companies competing for local business. There are four different major phone books that arrive at our office over about a three-month period. Each company is hoping you’ll toss away the others books and keep theirs. The truth is we throw away all phone books that show up at our business (and my home) and
by Michael Dorausch, DC Nice to have a big fat wireless WiFi connection when staying at hotels. Comes in super handy when you want to power up your Ubuntu Dell XPS (Windows crashed) and browse the net with friends and business colleagues. Interacted with dozens of chiropractors from the United States and Canada this past few days and I received lots of website related feedback from chiropractors that have a presence on the Web. Was talking to Dr. George Khoury (today was his 40th birthday) who practices Chiropractic in Livermore and he was saying his office does not get a
by Michael Dorausch This time of year it sure would be sweet having a chiropractic office in a place like Summerville or something smiley like that. I was poking around online and there it was, a Summerville in South Carolina, I did not even know such a place existed. Apparently this place has been a round for sometime. My apologies to those living in Summerville, looks beautiful. For those of you as geographically challenged as me, check out an online map for more information on the town. I did a google map search and it looks like North Charleston is
Chiropractors in the San Francisco Bay area are using various methods to advertise their chiropractic services online. I’m here in San Francisco for a WordCamp conference. While I’ve been here I’ve been visiting numerous websites and have noticed a number of chiropractic offices advertising on them. I’ve seen offices as far as New York and Texas appearing in ads (they may want to revisit their internet advertising approach) and I’ve checked out a few websites for chiropractors in San Jose, Redwood City and the San Francisco area. While at this conference we were discussing some do’s and don’ts of website
