By Michael Dorausch, DC The problem with taking medications, is there are always side effects, and sometimes they’re not the kind of side effects one would expect. With the growth of social media, we are increasingly seeing undesired side effects, from companies seeking to market their brands to consumers. An example playing out today on twitter, is a major fail for the manufacturer of Motrin, as evidenced by the backlash coming from a #motrinmoms discussion, taking place basically all day today. It all started out rather innocently enough, with manufacturers of Motrin launching a video ad campaign related to wearing […]

By Michael Dorausch, DC My Los Angeles chiropractic office will be closing a bit early this upcoming Friday so my staff and myself can drive to the St. Regis Hotel in Dana Point California for an event intended to raise funds and awareness on the topic of autism. The event (Ante Up for Autism 2008) features celebrity guests Jenny McCarthy, Lance Armstrong, Tony Hawk, Ryan Sheckler, Jim Everett, and others. Planet Chiropractic is one of the event sponsors and I’m looking forward to this being a successful event. I have to imagine Jenny McCarthy has faced some interesting challenges as […]

By Michael Dorasuch, DC Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey are featured on the cover of the fall issue of Pathways Magazine. The couple has been actively engaded in promoting lifestyle and family wellness with Jenny speaking out and authoring books on Autism and Nutrition. Jenny McCarthy spoke regarding Vaccines and Autism on Oprah just about one year ago today. I’ve written about Pathways (Family Wellness Lifestyle Magazine For Better Education) Magazine in the past and I genuinely get excited whenever issues arrive. We get copies for my LA Chiropractic office by the case and our patients LOVE Them! Articles are […]

Non Prescription Viagra Fax Spam

By Michael Dorausch, DC I mentioned to some friends that I received my first Viagra (non-prescription alternative) Spam message via my Fax machine. Apparently this was meant for Bret Z from Len. Len must have been talking to Bret on his cell phone when his battery died, hence the need to fax this info (to me). Clicking the image will load one much closer to the original doc which I scanned as a pdf. Gotta give the spammers some credit for handwriting messages and using some creativity. And yes, I deleted the website information. No spammer links here.

Alternative and Natural Cancer Remedies

By Michael Dorausch, DC Cures for Cancer promoted online? Whoa! Had a bit too much caffiene tonight and found myself up late viewing health news. Came across several stories regarding the FDA and a warning the government agency has sent out to some 25 companies regarding advertising of Cancer Cures. Honestly, I was floored. Are companies really advertising online for cures to cancer? I had to check it out. Appears as though there is quite a bit of activity in this space, not only among mainstream cancer agencies (marketing things such as proton therapy) but there’s a bunch of alternative […]

By Michael Dorausch, DC I was investigating some popular search keywords yesterday which led me to do a search for the term medicine. Scanning through the results, I found it interesting that six out of the top 21 searched keyword phrases, were related to alternative methods of healing. Even more so, I found it really interesting that the term alternative medicine ranked so high on the list. I took a screenshot of the 21 most popular terms related to the root term medicine, and highlighted the ones I feel fit into a similar category. It shouldn’t come as any surprise […]

Dr. Smoothie Amino Repair and Bio Bars

by Michael Dorausch, DC A territory manager for a company called Dr. Smoothie dropped by my Los Angeles chiropractic office just before the Christmas holidays. He left me with some nutritional products to try out. The sample packs were called Amino Recovery, Amino Hydrate, and Amino Repair. He also included a peanut butter crunch flavored Bio Bar. I haven’t had a chance yet to try out the products as I have been out of town for the past two weeks. I did tell Adam Lasko at Dr. Smoothie that I would try out the products and let him know what […]

by Michael Dorausch, DC I receive some interesting invitations to numerous conferences that are not related to the field of chiropractic, at least not directly. I was going through my mail and noticed I was invited to attend a November Hysterectomy Conference at the Westin Hotel in Pasadena. The conference was being put on by the HERS Foundation, which was established in 1982 to meet the need and demand for information and services concerning hysterectomy and castration. I didn’t get to attend the conference as it was held last weekend and I was at BarCamp. It did look rather interesting […]

Buzz People Noticed Yoga Was Popular Too

by Michael Dorausch I just noticed today someone from Yahoo! found Yoga Topics were growing in popularity. I blogged about naked yoga last week after I did some keyword research and found a number of funky yoga and massage terms appearing in SERPs. That research was a result of extended searching I was doing related to 1895 chiropractic search terms. Tonight I was visiting a Yahoo! page and saw a buzz article on a similar topic (Yoga, not chiropractic). According to the article, yoga searchers are in the 35-44 age range and are primarily in the coastal states of New […]

Tushy Massage and Naked Yoga

by Michael Dorausch, DC While many are seeking alternative health care, many others still have their minds in the gutter. I was doing some search engine keyword research today in preparation for an article regarding the popularity of terms related to chiropractic and words chiropractors are accustomed to using. While the article was focused on chiropractic centric terms, I decided to research some terms that would commonly come up in alternative fields of health care. The results say something interesting about what’s being searched on the Internet. One of the non-chiropractic terms I searched was massage, which according to the […]
