Shaped Rubber Heels from 1908

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. Shoes have been a hot item for quite some time. There are running shoes, walking shoes, hiking shoes, calf muscle strengthening shoes, shoes that encourage better posture and balance, and a custom shoe style for nearly every type of activity. I discovered a number of interesting advertisements when browsing through a newspaper (from around 1908) and I’ll be sharing a few of them here. This particular advertisement is for O’Sullivans Shaped Rubber Heels which are purported to increase your walking powers 100%. Unlike the Claxton Ear-Cap (to prevent ugly ears), rubber heels continue to be an […]

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. Chiropractors and others doing business within the industry of the chiropractic profession post classified ads seven days a week on the Planet Chiropractic classified ad pages. I noticed an advertisement posted yesterday that utilized a few of the features I’ve spoken about numerous times when making suggestions on going granular with ones advertisements. The ad was placed by a chiropractic office in San Diego, California and I want to highlight a few of the things I think they did right when posting their ad. You can view listing 20950 here (at least until it expires). First […]

No More Ugly Ears

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. I recently found what I’d consider an old wellness advertisement in a newspaper from the early 1900s. It was an ad for something called the Claxton Ear-Cap and it was intended to keep kids from developing “ugly” ears. I found the marketing sales pitch language really interesting and I’ve transcribed most of it below. Check out the image… No More Ugly Ears Why allow your child to be annoyed in later life by outstanding ears, when you can easily prevent it now? Get the Claxton Ear-Cap, and let it be worn in the nursery and during […]

Win a Wii Fit from Planet Chiropractic

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. You may or may not have noticed that I ordered a Wii Fit early in April and received one via FedEx just the other day. It’s very cool and apparently there’s quite a bit of concern that there won’t be enough units to go around. Wouldn’t it be great to Win one for yourself? Well now you can! I have a brand new unit, opened only to take photos, that’s ready to take up residence in the home of some happy camper. Check out the photos… One side of the Wii Fit box Other side of […]

Small Business and Politics Don’t Always Mix

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. I had a good reminder today as to why it’s not typically a smart idea to discuss politics in a small business setting. I’ve been a practicing chiropractor in Los Angeles for several years, providing care in a community that represents all sorts of different views and opinions when it comes topics such as politics, sports, and religion. I do my best to keep discussions related to any of those three topics to a minimum, primarily out of respect for the differing viewpoints amongst the people we serve. Today I was reminded why that is a […]

Your Wii Fit order has shipped

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. Woo Hoo! Received an e-mail earlier today from saying that my pre-ordered Wii Fit had been shipped via FedEx. It’s expected to arrive on May 20 (that’s tomorrow) in my LA chiropractic office. I first wrote about the Wii Fit for chiropractors last summer. I don’t quite recall when I first ordered this (was likely two months ago) but Amazon had some sort of pre-order price guarantee, which I thought was pretty cool. E-mail reads… Our Pre-order Price Guarantee covers one or more item(s) in this order. If the price decreases between the time […]

I can haz ur money?

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. 3 different sellers of items posted to the classified ads e-mailed me all within a few hours of each other with an e-mail from a suspected scammer. I appreciate them all forwarding the e-mail and I found it to be a perfect example of something that should be obvious, but sometimes isn’t to either new sellers or buyers. In my experience, scammers are targeting sellers of products, hoping to separate them from their items. I’ve made numerous posts regarding spotting fraud on items such as Nervo-Scopes, surface EMG, x-ray equipment, chiropractic tables, and other items. This […]

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. I was investigating some popular search keywords yesterday which led me to do a search for the term medicine. Scanning through the results, I found it interesting that six out of the top 21 searched keyword phrases, were related to alternative methods of healing. Even more so, I found it really interesting that the term alternative medicine ranked so high on the list. I took a screenshot of the 21 most popular terms related to the root term medicine, and highlighted the ones I feel fit into a similar category. It shouldn’t come as any surprise […]

On Schools and Chiropractic Education

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. I had several e-mail questions this week regarding topics related to chiropractic schools, chiropractor salaries, and education required before entering a chiropractic program. They ranged from university students asking about continuing their education to become a chiropractor, an attorney asking about average incomes for sole practitioner doctors of chiropractic, and another college student asking about specific prerequisites required for entrance to chiropractic programs. While these are mostly my opinions, and not necessarily the opinions of an entire industry of natural health care practitioners, I’ve authored or indexed a number of articles that you may find helpful […]

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. No rhyme or reason here, other than its Friday and I didn’t think I’d get a chance to make a blog post before mid-Saturday afternoon. I was performing some searches for phone related articles and I came across a number of different posts, written by different chiropractic authors, that I hadn’t seen in some time. They were all written by chiropractors, check them out… A bartender is just a pharmacist with a limited inventory By Darrel Crain, D.C. Doc, I’m pretty sure I need some of those big green pills, you know, like the ones on […]
