2008 Small Business SEMMY Nominee

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. I’ve been nominated for a 2008 small-business SEMMY award! The nomination came as the result of my November 29 post on 23 surefire small-business marketing tips for 2008. These tips didn’t come from me needing to create a blog post for the day, they are the result of nearly 7 years of small-business marketing research that was utilized in my Los Angeles chiropractic office. I believe the person most likely responsible for the post receiving recognition is Matt McGee, the host of Small Business SEM, an exceptionally information filled blog for small businesses that want to […]

GPS Fitness Trainers For Better Performance

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. Along the concrete and asphalt paths of Venice, Santa Monica, and other coastal parts of West Los Angeles, people have been increasingly turning out for early morning training runs in preparation for the March 2008 Los Angeles Marathon. During my morning visits down to the beach I’m seeing increased numbers of people training in groups. The 22nd annual LA Marathon is taking place on March 2 of this year and those groups are likely to grow in size during the next 45 days or so. But what if your training alone? I’ve been running the shoreline […]

Conference Exhibition and Healing Events

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. Going through another stack of mail. I receive lots of information about symposiums, conferences, continuing education, nutritional seminars, and all sorts of events related to chiropractic and other health-care industries. I share what I can on this blog for those that may be seeking more information. While not related to nutrition, I received a flyer regarding unsecured business lines of credit. I figured I’d mention that quickly since our admin deletes a lot of posts made to the classified ads section that are related to getting loans, securing capital, and receiving lines of credit. Reason why […]

Mahalo for Not Smoking

by Michael Dorausch I took lots of photos of different signs during my Christmas trip to Maui. The calling 911 sign was popular. Here’s a group of signs from around the island that say Mahalo, which is Hawaiian for thank you. Besides Aloha, it’s probably the most commonly used word in Maui. Please Do Not Walk on Roadway Use Sidewalk – Mahalo Photo taken outside of the Kaanapali Beach Club. This next photo was for a sign about an Congo African Grey named BoJo. We share a birthday so I took a liking to this bird. While tempted, I didn’t […]

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. I’ve got stacks of mail on the desk that I’ve been meaning to post about. Now seems to be as good a time as any. I will start with a mailer I received regarding a program called Quantum Reflex Analysis, which is also known as QRA. The mailing is for a seminar taking place in Irvine, California at the end of this month, January 25 through January 27, 2008. I’d never heard of this program but from what I can gather by the postcard is it’s related to nutrition. Symptoms listed on the postcard include allergies, […]

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. Someone was in the ADIO Chiropractic office today and we were having a discussion about our January 2008 birthday board. They reminded me about the birthday board post from September of 2007 and I remembered there was a photo taken of the December birthday board, which was going to be used with the 2008 success tips post. Since I forgot to post it in December a thought I’d post it today. These dry erase whiteboards are less than $50 at most office superstores and places like Costco. I think even IKEA has whiteboards and marker sets, […]

An unknown fatal error occurred

by Michael Dorausch, D.C. I was just checking out one of my favorite social media sites (Digg) and saw an article on the homepage reporting the US medical system as the worst in 19 industrialized nations. I went to vote up some of the comments I liked and the site gave me an error message. See the screenshot below. While the news about the US medical system is tragic I found it interesting that an error message appeared on this post. It’s almost as if it belonged there. Read the sentence above the error message… “U.S. sees 100,000 extra deaths […]

Election 2008 Has America Interested

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. It’s impressive to see the number of people searching online this evening for topics related to the 2008 election and the New Hampshire primary results. This article is not about politics or today’s primary, it’s a glimpse into what we as Americans have been seeking throughout the day. The thanks behind the creation of this topic goes to a very interesting tool provided by Google known as Hot Trends. Think of it like an exit poll that allows us to get a look as to what people’s thoughts were throughout the day. Like millions of others […]

X-Ray of Blogging Hand

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. Have you ever wondered what your hand would look like on an x-ray while using your mouse? Probably not. Either way, I was experiencing some numbness in my right thumb after several days of excessive blogging activity and I thought it would be interesting to see how the bones in my wrist and hand were lining up along with my mouse. I started with my Microsoft cordless mouse and placed it on the cassette that holds the x-ray film. Don’t try this at home. I set the radiology unit on a timer so I’d have time […]
