By Michael Dorausch, D.C. Broken any pool rules lately? Growing up in Long Island, there were many summers I spent swimming in the pools of neighbors, relatives, and friends. We had a pool at my parents home in Huntington and the only rule I can remember was that there was to be no peeing in the pool (that’s what that cabana was for). Hotels and resorts all had signs and I don’t remember what the rules were for those pools in the 70s, but staying at a resort this past week in Maui I snapped a photo of a Pool […]

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. I don’t know if they still do this in the USA but in Panama Ronald McDonald still goes around to hospitals and orphanages to visit kids there. During one chiropractic mission to Panama (I think in 2003) a chiropractor from Florida met crossed paths with Ronald at one of the child centers. What Nice Red Hair You Have Childrens volunteer gets a chiropractic checkup and adjustment while outside a child center in one of Panamas many provinces. The facility in the background is a gymnasium and they are interesting in the way they are designed and […]

Blogging SOAP Note Taking Laptop Stations

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. More photos that I found on the front desk computer. These may not be of too much interest to non-chiropractors but they are actually nice and efficient workstation setups that we’ve used successfully for a few years now. 3 Foot Efficient Laptop Workstation There are 3 setups like this in my LA chiropractic office and they have served us very well. The space measures a bit more than 3′ but we’ve got everything needed all in one space. The counter has no edges which is safer for patients. There is a clipboard that has blank SOAP […]

Plastic Spine Keychains

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. There was a Chiropractic Christmas Tree news post on Planet Chiropractic today with a mention about spinal keychains that we hand out in my LA office. The photos shown did not show the keychains so well and someone had emailed me asking about them. I found photos I already took of the key chains so here is one below. Spine Keychains – I don’t have the info handy as to where we purchase these but they are not expensive. I’ve searched online and there are at least 3 different companies selling these. If you are ordering […]

WGA Strike Affecting Stress Levels

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. I’m not the only chiropractor in West LA that has been effected by the writers strike. I’ve spoken to a number of my colleagues and have heard similar reports: an increase in office visits the first two weeks of the strike, a decrease in visits to studios and filming locations, a growing number of stress related complaints from those working in the industry (not necessarily writers). In the beginning several of our patients were excited about the time off, with some even bringing their poodles along for visits, since they were out doing errands instead of […]

Chiropractor Front Desk Photo Directory

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. One of my staff members is out of the office on vacation and I’ve just sat down at her computer to do some upgrades like installing FireFox and Picasa. After doing the Picasa install the software scanned the drive for images and I discovered hundreds of photos (some almost NSFW) on the hard disk so I’ll be uploading a few over the next 3 days. With Christmas approaching I don’t think I’ll be doing much writing anyway so this is an easy way to get some new stuff online. Here comes some photos… Chiropractic on the […]

Googling Others Beats Being Self Googled

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. Have you been googling yourself lately? If so, there’s no reason to be ashamed? According to a Digital Footprints report released today by Pew Internet, many are doing it, and they’ve even googled others as well. By the time I sat down to write this post there were more than 360 articles appearing in Google News related to the report, which addressed googling, online identity management, and the ways we search for ourselves and others while online. I’m sure in the days and weeks to come there will be dozens of well-written and insightful articles regarding […]

Ron Paul Revolution Quantcast November Report

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. Earlier today I posted news to Planet Chiropractic (Addicted to Ron Paul) regarding a significant change in web related data, when comparing web site traffic from September through November, for BarackObama.com, HillaryClinton.com, and RonPaul2008.com. The news section of the Planet Chiropractic website does not support comments so this post was created for those that have been e-mailing me. I’ll go into more specific details on the news post here, and this is the place to post your related comments. Other Ron Paul related articles on this site include: Why Chiropractors Should Support Ron Paul and Chiropractors […]

West LA Chiropractors See Many of These

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. I don’t know about the rest of the world but here in West Los Angeles there is an abundance of tattoo parlors and related facilities. In this area it’s not uncommon to see tattoos of all sorts of colors, shapes and sizes, on people from all different age groups and backgrounds. Below is a photograph of some sort of artistic tattoo appearing on a young womans spine, in the area of her sacrum, iliac crests, and lower lumbar vertebrae. That L4, L5 and S1 for those of you that want to be technical. I don’t know […]

By Michael Dorausch, D.C. This post relates specifically to chiropractors attending Schofield Chiropractic Trainings in 2008. I do most of our chiropractor interviews for Planet Chiropractic while attending these events so you can expect to find me at these locations throughout the year. Tempe Mission Palms – Arizona Tempe is one of my favorite places to visit since its a college town and there’s plenty to do. There are going to be events there on February 16, October 4, and December 6, of 2008. LaGuardia Marriott – New York I’m less frequently at the LaGuardia Marriott since I’m not crazy […]
