by Michael Dorausch, DC I live close to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and there are all sorts of conferences being held within a two-mile radius of the airport on a regular basis. Among some of the chiropractic conference notifications I received this past weekend there was one being held at the Doubletree Hotel near LAX and it was being sponsored by Life University. The event offered a seven hour relicensing continuing education credit but there were no technique hours offered. Instructors included Catherine Franklin, a chiropractor who was a former professor of clinical sciences at Life University, and Peter
by Michael Dorausch, DC I didn’t take many photos during the past weekend but I did get some of several chiropractors and others that were in attendance at a conference I was attending in Anaheim. This first photo is of chiropractors Michael DeNapoli and Michael Blum. Both Michaels practice in Southern California and I was sitting next to them for most of the morning on Saturday. We were joking about names for a chiropractic franchise owned by guys named Michael. We thought about calling it 3 Mikes, Mike Cubed, or Mike Mikey and Michael. These two are both great chiropractors.

by Michael Dorausch, DC I receive some interesting invitations to numerous conferences that are not related to the field of chiropractic, at least not directly. I was going through my mail and noticed I was invited to attend a November Hysterectomy Conference at the Westin Hotel in Pasadena. The conference was being put on by the HERS Foundation, which was established in 1982 to meet the need and demand for information and services concerning hysterectomy and castration. I didn’t get to attend the conference as it was held last weekend and I was at BarCamp. It did look rather interesting
by Michael Dorausch, DC I’m still down at Disneyland in Southern California, attending a chiropractic conference. Conferences in this industry are typically held at hotel locations throughout the United States, but there’s quite a few continuing education programs that take place on chiropractic college campuses. Nearly every chiropractor that brought their family to the area spent a few days at Disneyland. Looks like it was a successful place to put together a conference. Yesterday I wrote about seven locations for chiropractic schools in the USA, but there are currently 18 institutions in the United States that offer chiropractic programs. Below
by Michael Dorausch, DC I was enjoying a Latte this morning with Dr. Russell Kun, who is moving from his office in San Lorenzo to Capital City in the Seattle area, and we got to talking about Life West and other chiropractic schools. Dr. Kuns office was not far from the college in Hayward and he said he had not searched out many areas beyond those near the school. After several years in practice he decided to make the move to the state of Washington. He’s moving next week. Later in the morning someone asked how far away we were
by Michael Dorausch, DC Received some literature today on a golf injury program that’s being held in the state of California. This injury event is related to understanding the Neurokinetics of golfers. Chiropractic seminar dates include November 29 and December 8, and they will be at the Mile Square Golf Course, which is located at 10401 Warner Ave, Fountain Valley, California. According to the literature, the program involves discussing golf protocols, nutrition protocols, education regarding golf swing and muscles of the golf swing, stretches and protocols for golf, importance behind balance and posture for golf, as well as other golf
by Michael Dorausch, DC A Chiropractor from West Palm Beach Florida, Dr. Edwin Cordero, has authored a number of chiropractic articles in Spanish. About a dozen of those articles appeared on Planet Chiropractic around 2002 and 2003, and some in 2004. I was checking search logs earlier today and noticed evidence of people seeking chiropractic related content in Spanish so I put together a list of some of Dr. Cordero’s chiropractic posts. All of the articles below are in Spanish and range in topics from the discussion of innate intelligence to being responsible for one’s own health. Es Mi Salud

by Michael Dorausch, DC I received one of those super large color and glossy postcards today from a place called the Soul Blazing Sanctuary in Sherman Oaks, California. One of my celebrity actor clients from Encino was just asking if I knew a good chiropractor in the Sherman Oaks area, and I gave him phone numbers for Michael and Patrick. They are both great chiropractors. Back to the card… According to the postcard, the soul blazing sanctuary holds weekend workshops as well as life coaching sessions. They’re offering evenings with special guest healers, swami’s, and different teachers related to the
by Michael Dorausch, DC I received another fax today regarding some chiropractic software for managing the office. I think I saw a similar fax the other day and I was amazed how expensive some of these software packages are priced. This was chiropractic software for a paperless office and it was being advertised for around 250 bucks a month, for 60 months. That comes out to $15,000 and this is for the most basic package. A friend of mine, who works for Sun Microsystems, was taking a look at some of these chiropractic packages and basically said they were crippled
by Michael Dorausch, DC Midwifery, a term traditionally used to describe the art of assisting a woman through childbirth, is a practice that is often closely associated with chiropractic care through a woman’s pregnancy. Someone called me today seeking out a midwife in the Santa Monica area, and they motivated me to do some searching through planet chiropractic news archives, in hopes of finding some related midwife content. Here is what I came across… A July 2006 Attended Births article by Darrel Crain (chiropractor in San Diego). Darrel writes… Babies, it has been discovered, are a major cause of children.
